What is "Counseling and Faith-Based Services for Crime Victims in Indian Country"?
Counseling and Faith-Based Services for Crime Victims in Indian Country is a discretionary grant program from the Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime, designed to link faith-based organizations, spiritual leaders, and traditional healers with victim service programs in American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to provide counseling services for crime victims. The goal of this initiative is to encourage collaboration between victim service programs, traditional healers, and other faith-based clergy, as well as to recognize traditional healing services as a resource for AI/AN crime victims.
What is the "Counceling and Faith-Based Services for Crime Victims in Indian Country Training and Technical Assistance Project"?
The T&TA Project’s purpose is to provide hands-on support and services to American Indian and Alaska Native grantees who have received funding through the Counseling and Faith Based Services for Crime Victims in Indian Country Grant Program.
Goals of Training and Technical Assistance (T&TA):
(1) Expand the capacity of tribal victim assistance programs to collaborate with traditional healers and other faith-based groups.
(2) Assist tribal victim assistance programs to effectively and consistently integrate traditional healing and other faith-based counseling options in their service delivery to tribal crime victims.

T&TA Resource Library:
Along with our online Resource Library, Unified Solutions maintains an in-house library at its main office in Tempe, Arizona. The library includes books, newspaper and journal articles, audio/visual materials, legal codes, program management resources, training curriculum, newsletters, and fact sheets. Educational Publications & Newsletters:
Unified Solutions continually researches and develops original training publications and offers a wide range of educational materials at both the administrative and
direct-service levels. A bi-monthly T&TA Newsletter, provided at no charge to grantee programs, features educational articles, training opportunities, funding opportunities, and information about valuable resources.
Teleclasses:
A series of monthly tele-classes is provided through our toll-free conference line. Each tele-class is a focused, concise training, determined directly by the needs assessments of the grantee community. In addition, Unified Solutions has developed an original 16-week teleclass series, Leadership Skills for Program Managers in Indian Country, designed to provide participants with culturally relevant tools and skills to achive the goals of their programs.
Annual Skills Conferences & Resource Forum:
Annual Skills Conferences & Resource Forum: Each year a skills-based training conference is offered, featuring expert faculty and guest speakers, interactive workshops, opportunities for networking with other Tribal Victim Service programs, and cultural experiences that allow us to share our rich heritage.
Budget Assistance & Sustainability Support:
We provide services and resources to assist Tribal Victim Service providers with budget reporting and sustainability efforts in order to promote successful management, continued growth, and program sufficiency.
On-Site Training & Program Support:
We visit each community at least once during the grant cycle to work with program managers to identify the strengths and needs of their program, assist in the writing of program policies and procedures, and deliver training specifically tailored to that community.
One-on-One Technical Assistance:
We are available Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Arizona) at our office in Tempe. We can be reached by e-mail, telephone, or fax.
