Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) Online Expert Q&A: “Victim-Centered Approaches to Family Violence.” Sept 27, 2017 | 2 PM EDT
“Victim-centered” means putting the person seeking services at the center of the work; however, it might be more revealing to think of putting engagement at the center. What is required in this moment of engagement is presence. Victim-centered approaches to family violence require attention, openness, connection, and a capacity to engage in the moment authentically with the person seeking assistance. In this webinar, we will explore help-seeking, empathy, self-care, transdisciplinary collaboration, and the art of presence in a collaborative response to family violence.
