Registration Now Open: Suicide Prevention Training for Indian Country Crime Victim Advocates

Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) has partnered with the Education Development Center (EDC) to create the first ever suicide prevention training curriculum specifically for crime victim advocates that will be disseminated at a series of training workshops that will be held over the next few months.

EDC will be using a train-the-trainer model to prepare workshop participants to train other crime victim advocates on how to properly identify a victim who is at risk for suicide, intervene and refer them to appropriate care, and appropriately follow-up with the victim. The dates and locations of the workshops are listed below.

While you are free to register for any of the workshop dates, please note that the workshop that will be held in Denver, CO on August 1-2, 2019 has been designed specifically to address the issue of suicide among American Indian and Alaska Native victims of crime. If you are an OVC grantee, you may be able to use your OVC award funds to pay for the costs associated with traveling to a training workshop. Ask your assigned OVC Grant Manager for details.
