SUMMARY:Unified Solutions' Community of Practice Self Care and Resiliency Virtual Gathering
DESCRIPTION: \nWorking in victim services and allied professions is often very rewarding. It also comes with a higher risk for vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. If we engage in an intentional practice of self-care that builds strengths and resiliency\, we can do good work with others and keep ourselves well and healthy. \nUsing an evidence-informed approach\, the Community of Practice: Self-Care and Resiliency will give participants an opportunity to do a self-assessment to identify their resiliency strengths\, and share strategies on how they can develop additional strengths. This is an interactive session in which you will learn from\, and with\, other Tribal victim service professionals. \nKaren Kalergis Self Care and Resiliency Consultant \nKaren Irene Kalergis has been in the field of victim services for almost 30 years. She held key roles in two major Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) initiatives that translated research to practice for evidence-informed interventions. Karen was the Project Director on the OVC grant that led to the curriculum for “Building Resiliency in Child Abuse Organizations”\, available through OVC TTAC\, and was Product Coordinator for Northeastern University’s work on the Vicarious Trauma Toolkit\, an online repository for first responder and victim service organizations. She is now a resiliency consultant for Unified’s Community of Practice Virtual Gatherings and a subject matter expert for the International Chiefs of Police Vicarious Trauma Response Initiative. In April 2015\, Attorney General Eric Holder awarded Karen the prestigious National Crime Victim Service Award which honors extraordinary individuals and programs whose work has been particularly noteworthy. \nRegister Here! \n
