Funding Opportunity: Deadline August 31, 2022. DOJ Opens Application Period for Tribal Access Program.

The Department of Justice has announced the opening of the application period for federally recognized Tribes and intertribal consortia to participate in the Tribal Access Program (TAP) for National Crime Information. The deadline to apply is August 31, 2022.

TAP provides federally recognized tribal jurisdictions access to national crime information databases, including the National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR), so they can exchange critical data to protect their communities.
For tribal SORNA agencies participating in TAP, the SMART Office provides an enhanced Tribe and Territory Sex Offender Registry System (TTSORS) feature, which enables sex offender records created in TTSORS to be submitted directly to NSOR. This feature eliminates dual entry and ensures timeliness, accuracy and completeness of a tribe’s NSOR records.
