The Forensics Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program will provide support to the forensic science grant programs administered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (an estimated 500-plus grantees). These programs provide states and localities with various resources and tools to improve the quality of their forensic science services in order to meet the challenges of crime and justice and improve overall public safety. The seven formula- and competitive-based forensic science programs covered under this TTA solicitation include the following:
1. DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (formula)
2. Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Program (formula)
3. Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Program (competitive)
4. Prosecuting Cold Cases Using DNA (competitive)
5. Postconviction DNA Testing Assistance (competitive)
6. Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence — Inventory, Tracking, and Reporting (competitive)
7. Strengthening the Medical Examiner-Coroner System Program (competitive)
