Resource: The National Tribal Judicial Center presents “Enhanced Sentencing in Tribal Courts: Lessons Learned from Tribes.” This publication provides a brief overview of the changes under the Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) regarding enhanced sentencing authority. The publication also offers considerations for correctional/detention and community corrections programming related to enhanced sentences and provides Tribes with a checklist to help guide discussions around the implementation of enhanced sentencing authority.
