The National Institute on the Prosecution of Sexual Violence (NIPSV) is a three-and-one-half-day course designed to challenge participants to reevaluate their approach to prosecuting sexual assault. NIPSV explores the complex issues faced by prosecutors in balancing offender accountability and the impact of criminal prosecution on victims.
In addition to practical case evaluation, and investigation and litigation skills, the curriculum examines the benefits of developing a coordinated, victim-centered response; explains relevant medical and forensic evidence and offers guidance on the use of experts; addresses the importance of culturally-specific victim services; and offers police and prosecutors an enhanced skillset to redefine outcomes in sexual assault cases.
