Check out the International Association of Chiefs of Police‘s (IACP) New Publication: “Establishing or Enhancing Law Enforcement-Based Victim Services – Effective Partnerships.”

“This publication series identifies key considerations for establishing or enhancing direct services to victims within law enforcement-based systems. Currently, multiple models of service provision exist, and a familiarity with these different models can help provide an overall understanding of victim advocacy. The two basic categories that exist to differentiate between advocates are (1) system-based advocates, employed by a public agency such as law enforcement, prosecutor’s office, or another entity within government, and (2) community-based advocates, who work for a private, autonomous organization within the community.”
