Resource: The National Indian Child Welfare Association published “Understanding the ICWA Placements Using Kinship Care Research.” The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) was passed in response to public and private agencies removing an alarmingly high number of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children from their homes. This resource provides an overview of research showing that placing children in kinship care has profound and enduring benefits to AI/AN children.
